Overall physical fitness is necessary in all sports. However, there are some very specific aspects of fitness that define a surfer. Balance, strength, agility and flexibility are the most important factors for a surfer, however, often it's your general fitness or endurance that can let you down when the waves are on. So training to improve these areas is essential to keep you in the water longer, but also to improve your technique.

What is fit2surf?

fit2surf is strength and conditioning specifically designed for surfers.

fit2surf will allow you to access the most effective and up to date exercises to help with your surfing, whether it is a home based surf specific program that we send to you or more comprehensive program development at our training studio in Brookvale NSW.

 

Everyone is different and every surfer has their own unique style in the water. So we all need to concentrate on different aspects of our fitness to improve our surfing. Your personalised exercise program is designed for you. It is not a generalized program and you can't just download it off the internet like many other online fitness websites.

So why train for surfing?

A long session in the water can take it out of you, so improving your fitness will allow you to surf longer, harder and more often. With improved fitness comes increased confidence to push your limits in bigger waves or to get that competitive edge. Training these specific areas of fitness, will help to improve you as a surfer through:

Balance - helps with weight transfer through each turn.
Strength - allows for maximum speed and power through each turn.
Agility- increases fluidity between each turn.
Flexibility- reduces injury and enables your body to be put into awkward positions.
Endurance- ensures that you will surf harder, surf for longer and ultimately enjoy your surfing.

What do I get in my program?

You will receive a personalised exercise program presented in a hard cover folder consisting of exercises designed to target areas that you want to improve. Each exercise will display a photo, with start and finish positions, the exercise description and any other relevant information regard sets, repetitions etc. The program will last up to 12 weeks to give you plenty of time to track your progress. You will also have access to program support through email at programs@fit2surf.com.au for any questions you have regarding your program. 

Do I need equipment for my program?

Your exercise program will consist of home based exercises with no equipment needed. However, checkout the equipment page to get an idea of whether you think some basic equipment will benefit you i.e. if you need to improve balance - then the balance pad is an essential piece of equipment to be included in your program.

Please note: your program will consist of exercises using only the equipment that you purchase, if you do not purchase any equipment, and then your program will consist of body weight exercises only. Remember, this means that you are able to customize your package depending on your budget or your requirements.

How do I get my personalised program?

Now all you need to do is complete the [fit2surf Questionnaire] that will help us devise your exercise program specific to your requirements and targeting areas you feel you should concentrate on.

Then go to the shop, choose your equipment and purchase your program. It's that simple!!!
